Yet Another Week

Kia ora! I hope everyone's week has been good. Mine was good. this past week was temple week for our stake, so a lot of the members were/are at the temple, doing sessions before it officially closes for three years on Wednesday. Yesterday at church, people were able to go up and share their testimonies about the temple. Everyone had a lot of good experiences and testified about the great importance of family history work. It was a very good testimony meeting and made me excited to do my own family history! Last Monday, Sister Tony and I went hiking, and it was fun... There were a lot of cows and even more cow poop, so it was a fun exercise to dodge it all. But it was good exercise and a nice view, so I had fun! I forgot my camera today, though, so I'll have to share my pictures next week. This past week our district leader challenged us to pick a part from our mission vision to work on. I picked "Fearlessly opening our mouths to proclaim the restored gospel to...

Another Week Gone By

Hello! This week was very busy. We had Zone Conference on Wednesday, and that was so good! President Walker always has us laughing and feeling the spirit. Our training was on recognizing and relying on the spirit and it was really good. It can be hard to just trust in God, but as we do so, we will see that He has a lot more power than we do! President also trained us on how the Book of Mormon can help bring people to know these things are true. He read with us Moroni 10:3-5 and we went though each qualification a person must have in order to receive a witness that these things are true. I never realized how much is required before Heavenly Father will give this witness to us, but really, it isn't too much that we can't handle it. And the blessing of knowing these things are true is worth anything else! We also had exchanges on Friday (Friday the Thirteenth!) and those are always good... I was with Sister Chaves and she is very knowledgeable about the gospel! i aske...

Peace, Be Still

Kia ora! I hope everyone has had a fantastic week! My week was pretty good, not too much happened, but I'll share some things that did. I made Sister Tony celebrate the Fourth of July with me on Wednesday. We sang the Star Spangled Banner and had hamburgers! All in all, it was a good day. We also taught one of our investigators that day and showed her the twenty minute Restoration video. I felt the power of it just watching and I hope she did too. She said she knows it's true and she started reading the Book of Mormon. We'll meet with her tomorrow and see how she's doing. She's pretty awesome and she loves Christ! We met with our other investigator N this week and taught her the Word of Wisdom. She's still struggling to quit smoking, but we came up with a plan to help and she has a really good support at home. We'll see her this week as well, and we continue to pray for her! Exciting news! T will be baptized this Saturday!! Sister Tony and ...

A Good Week

Kia ora!     This week was very good! We had transfers, but... Sister Tony and I are still together! Nothing changed for us, which I'm glad about. We still have a lot of work to do before either of us leaves the area. But for Wednesday, we were a temporary trio because one sister's companions weren't arriving until later. It was interesting to see how another missionary teaches and I learned a bit from her as well.     On Wednesday we taught our investigator N and taught her the Plan of Salvation. She received it really well and she's really excited about her upcoming baptism! She's so special and I'm also really excited for when she gets baptised.     We also taught T on Saturday about temples and family history. He's set to be baptised on July 14th, so we also hope he can go to the temple before it closes! His family is so good and they're so supportive. I'm truly blessed to be able to teach him!     My testimony is growing each day as...

Kia ora! This week was fairly good. We had a zone P day last week, so we got together and just played sports. During this, a soccer ball hit me in the face! But I ended up being fine and my nose is all healed. I actually thought it was pretty funny, although painful.  But despite that incident, the rest of the week was pretty uneventful. Something that was very exciting was that Sister Tony and I got to see our investigator N on Wednesday. It was really awesome, because at the end of the lesson, Sister Tony asked N if she would be baptized and she said yes! And then Sister Tony asked if she would get baptized on July 28th, and N said, "July 28th? That's so soon! I'm going to cry." And then she really did cry! It was such a sweet moment and we all were able to feel the spirit. Her aunt told us that N has been buzzing ever since! Oh, and something else eventful happened, although it's not a spiritual thing. Sister Tony and I went tracting on this on...

A Calm Week

Howdy! I hope everyone's week was very good! Mine was good! Last Monday, the sisters in my zone got together and we went to the Waipu Cave. It was fun... It was actually very fun, just very dirty! It was so dark in there, and at one point I took a step forward and my foot fell into a ditch full of water. So my shoe got soaked. And then I was inching my way down a little hill, when my foot slipped and I just slid down to the bottom. My pants were just super muddy. we all had fun though and it was a nice time to get to know some of the other sisters a bit more. And then we got ice cream afterwards, so it was very nice! We got a new investigator this week! Her name is A and we already set her for baptism! she's a nice girl and she's from a part member family, so she knows quite a bit about the gospel. We were able to teach another investigator this week named R, but he lives alone, so we brought a member with us. We actually brought a young couple, the Tipenes, who a...

Lots of Driving

Howdy y'all! Another week has passed. This week was super busy because we went to the temple and also had exchanges with the Sister Training Leaders! Me, Sister Tony, and two other sisters drove down to Ferguson on Wednesday night, about a three hour drive. Fun times.. We got to stay with some sisters there, and then the next morning we met at the chapel nearby at 7:15 and drove by bus to Hamilton! There we went inside the temple and it was so good! I think it's because it's my last time going for a while that I really felt the spirit and had a really good time there. Although that's probably just because the temple is so special! I'm so grateful for the temple so close in Houston, and I'll make it a strong point in my life for the coming years. Friday morning, Sister Tony and I went back to Whangarei and taught for a couple hours, then got ready for our stake talent show! that was so fun and a lot of people showed up. There was a great feeling of unity...
