Peace, Be Still

Kia ora!

I hope everyone has had a fantastic week! My week was pretty good, not too much happened, but I'll share some things that did.

I made Sister Tony celebrate the Fourth of July with me on Wednesday. We sang the Star Spangled Banner and had hamburgers! All in all, it was a good day. We also taught one of our investigators that day and showed her the twenty minute Restoration video. I felt the power of it just watching and I hope she did too. She said she knows it's true and she started reading the Book of Mormon. We'll meet with her tomorrow and see how she's doing. She's pretty awesome and she loves Christ!

We met with our other investigator N this week and taught her the Word of Wisdom. She's still struggling to quit smoking, but we came up with a plan to help and she has a really good support at home. We'll see her this week as well, and we continue to pray for her!

Exciting news! T will be baptized this Saturday!! Sister Tony and I are very happy and excited!! We're going over the program with his mom tomorrow. It'll truly be a great day and I hope he remembers it forever! I'll make sure to take pictures, haha.

Yesterday at church, Sister Tony and I were teaching Gospel Principles and we were teaching about the life of Christ. One woman suddenly turned to me and said, "What are your feelings towards Christ?" Wow, what a loaded question!

To put it very simply, I love Him. He's done everything for me and I can't put my feelings for Him into words. I was reading in the New Testament about when Christ calmed the storm on the sea when they were sailing. He simply said, "Peace, be still," and the waters immediately calmed. That same sentence is said to us by Him as we go through out turbulent times in life. Often I call out to the Lord when I feel weak and am despairing. Always, Christ gives me that same feeling comprising that simple statement: Peace, be still.

I know that as we put out trust and faith in Jesus Christ, He will help us. Faith has the power to move mountains, then why not hearts?

Being on a mission is amazing! Sometimes it doesn't feel like it, but I know that as I serve faithfully and obediently and diligently, I will be blessed.

Another Week Gone By

Hello! This week was very busy. We had Zone Conference on Wednesday, and that was so good! President Walker always has us laughing and feeling the spirit. Our training was on recognizing and relying on the spirit and it was really good. It can be hard to just trust in God, but as we do so, we will see that He has a lot more power than we do! President also trained us on how the Book of Mormon can help bring people to know these things are true. He read with us Moroni 10:3-5 and we went though each qualification a person must have in order to receive a witness that these things are true. I never realized how much is required before Heavenly Father will give this witness to us, but really, it isn't too much that we can't handle it. And the blessing of knowing these things are true is worth anything else! We also had exchanges on Friday (Friday the Thirteenth!) and those are always good... Lots of Driving

Howdy y'all! Another week has passed. This week was super busy because we went to the temple and also had exchanges with the Sister Training Leaders! Me, Sister Tony, and two other sisters drove down to Ferguson on Wednesday night, about a three hour drive. Fun times.. We got to stay with some sisters there, and then the next morning we met at the chapel nearby at 7:15 and drove by bus to Hamilton! There we went inside the temple and it was so good! I think it's because it's my last time going for a while that I really felt the spirit and had a really good time there. Although that's probably just because the temple is so special! I'm so grateful for the temple so close in Houston, and I'll make it a strong point in my life for the coming years. Friday morning, Sister Tony and I went back to Whangarei and taught for a couple hours, then got ready for our stake talent show! that was so fun and a lot of people showed up. Good Times in New Zealand

Hello all! This week has been good, but it's started raining. It's getting colder, so Sister Tony and I huddle around the heater for warmth and put on jackets.  This week as we went tracting (just going from door to door to see if anyone will listen to our message), we came across this one woman who said she was a realist. as we started talking, she began saying all this stuff about the church, and I'm a little ashamed to say that I started getting pretty angry. (I like to think about it as righteous anger.) It felt like she was looking down on us as kids who didn't know what we were getting ourselves into. but after a bit, I was able to calm down and tell her my testimony and then we wished her well and left.  Another time when we went tracting, this family was getting ready to leave and they were interested and thee husband eventually said, "Just go away," with a wave of his hand and it kind of stung to have someone dismiss me like that.
