Good Times in New Zealand

Hello all!

This week has been good, but it's started raining. It's getting colder, so Sister Tony and I huddle around the heater for warmth and put on jackets.

This week as we went tracting (just going from door to door to see if anyone will listen to our message), we came across this one woman who said she was a realist. as we started talking, she began saying all this stuff about the church, and I'm a little ashamed to say that I started getting pretty angry. (I like to think about it as righteous anger.) It felt like she was looking down on us as kids who didn't know what we were getting ourselves into. but after a bit, I was able to calm down and tell her my testimony and then we wished her well and left.

Another time when we went tracting, this family was getting ready to leave and they were interested and thee husband eventually said, "Just go away," with a wave of his hand and it kind of stung to have someone dismiss me like that. I'm sure that'll happen more and more throughout my mission, but it was a little hurtful! ( Hailey will get used to it and it won't bother her)

I thought I would get the bad stuff out of the way first, so on to some good things! On Saturday, Sister Tony and I got a call from one of the bishop's counselors and he asked me if I could give a talk the next day in church! Of course, I accepted, but I had little time to write it. but I gave the talk and the people enjoyed it. All in all, I'm glad I got to give it and share my testimony with the ward.

Not much happened this week apart from the regular mission stuff, but Sister Tony and I are still teaching and trying to help others come unto Christ! I keep thinking of this one EFY song called Peace in Christ. the lyrics go, "He gives us hope when hope is gone, He gives us strength when we can't go on, He gives us shelter in the storms of life, when there's no peace on earth, there is peace in Christ." It's helped me build up my morale and go on!

I hope you're all doing well and persevering! thanks to all who wrote me and I look forward to next week! (But not too much, because this week holds the wonders of missionary work!)

Oh right, a miracle this week! (Don't get too excited, it's a silly thing.) Yesterday (Sunday) I saw some people with cupcakes and I said, "I want those cupcakes so bad..." (It's the American and the Peterson in me.) Then one brother came over and he was like, "Would you like some cupcakes?" I almost cried. I gladly took them and ate them. They were delicious! Just like the fruits of the gospel!

I love you all!
Love,
Hailey
